Thank you for reading our letter. As we write to you, we are hopeful that adoption will enable us become a family of three. The gift of adoption is the ultimate act of profound love and selflessness. We promise that your baby will be surrounded and loved by family and friends. Your baby will know that you are an incredible woman who placed her or his needs above those of your own.
We have a home filled with laughter, learning and love and would be thrilled to welcome a baby to our family.
Our home is in the Pacific Northwest and is in a neighborhood that is within walking distance of the zoo, several parks, running paths, soccer fields and a lake. On the weekends we head up to our island cottage – a perfect place for a child. It is where we go to relax and look for sea shells and sand dollars on the beaches and spend quality time with family and friends.
Laughter – We believe in enjoying and making the most out of life. On one of our first dates, Mark made Laura laugh so much that her stomach was sore the next day (and was one of key reasons she realized he was the perfect guy for her.) Mark has a fun-loving, goofy nature, and is a favorite with kids because he is always willing to play. On a recent vacation, he took our friend’s daughter sledding down a hill. Mark has been dubbed “Mr. Cheese” by our friend’s children when he was taking photos of them at a party and getting them to giggle. (It’s a perfect nickname as he enjoys making people smile for the camera and cheese truly is one of his favorite foods.)
Learning – We look forward to sharing our love of learning and travel with a child. We consider ourselves to be life-long students, and we always like to try new things. This applies to both our professional lives (we both work in technology) and our home lives. One of Laura’s favorite childhood memories was going to the library every week with her mother and leaving with a big stack of books. As a result, she is an avid reader and looks forward to reading bedtime stories. Laura also loves puzzles and games (especially Cranium because she likes to be creative and draw). And we enjoy getting a group of friends together for dinner and game night. We both grew up in the US and in different parts of the world – Mark in France, Belgium and Poland, and Laura in Panama, Mexico and Spain. We enjoy traveling and learning about the history, traditions and cultures of new places.
Love – We have been together for over eleven years and married for eight. Our family (including grandparents, uncles, aunt and cousins) would be incredibly excited about welcoming a child to our family. We have a wonderful, fun group of friends and their children (who we consider our extended family) that gets together for annual traditions like pumpkin carving, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve dinners, Easter Egg hunts and summer barbeques.
We would love for you to be a part of your child's life. We will also respect the level of openess that you are comfortable with. Your child will forever know the love you have and you will always have a special place in our family.
We wish you the best and look forward to meeting you.
